            Diversity

            Diversity is a core value

            We honor diverse experiences and perspectives, in the belief that they enhance the educational experience for all. We strive to create welcoming and respectful learning environments, and foster a culture of inclusion.

            Our approach to diversity encompasses numerous aspects of identity, including gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability status, veteran status, nationality, religion and socioeconomic background.


            Student diversity on the rise

            • The proportion (and number) of undergraduate students of color for CU Denver and CU Anschutz Medical Campus combined has increased each year since 2007, reaching 44% in Fall 2016.
            • The proportion of graduate students of color for the combined​ campuses has consistently increased over the last several years, peaking at 21% in Fall 2016.
            • Students of color received nearly 31% of the baccalaureate and 38% of the doctoral degrees for the combined campuses in the 2015-16 academic year.
            • The number of students of color at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus has consistently risen since 2007. Students of color represented 22% of the student body in Fall 2016.
            • At CU Denver, 58% of new freshmen were students of color in Fall 2016.
            • The number and proportion of Pell grant recipients at CU Denver reached a high of 3,738 in Fall 2016. Roughly half of CU Denver baccalaureate degree earners in the 2015-16 academic year were Pell grant recipients.
