Learning through research
On her journey to earn a BS in Biology, Kaylae Nakamura became a MARC U-STAR (Maximizing Access to Research Careers Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research) Scholar and made good use of the ties between CU Denver and CU Anschutz. Doing research under Kevin Masters, PhD, she screened study participants, collected data, and examined the psychology behind physical activity adoption in adults at the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center.
“We wanted to find out what really drives people to be physically active. How can we increase maintenance of physical activity in adults?”
After she graduates, Nakamura will head straight to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases campus in Phoenix to do research in diabetes and obesity.
